Susan Glaspell was co-founder of the Provincetown Players and one of its leading writers. Susan Glaspell won the Pulitzer Prize for Alison's House (1930) and was also successful as an actress, producer, and novelist. Her plays were compared favorably with Eugene O'Neill's. Glaspell's concern with women's desire for selfhood brought her plays to the attention of feminist scholars beginning in the 1970s. It has been argued by contemporary scholars that Glaspell should be seen as a major American playwright.
Suppressed Desires: A Freudian Comedy was Susan Glaspell's first play and was first performed in 1916 in Provincetown. Suppressed Desires is a light, satirical, comedic play that was Glaspell's engaging response to the craze for psychoanalysis that was sweeping through Greenwich Village. This comedy reveals the pit falls of psychoanalysis while Mabel is visiting her sister Henrietta, and her husband Steve in their New York home. Henrietta is played by Lisa Jayne, Steve is played by Alex Brown, and Mabel is played by Vera Bennett.

Trifles was first performed by the Provincetown Players in 1916, with Susan Glaspell playing the role of Mrs. Hale. In her story, Trifles, Farmer John Wright has been murdered while he lay sleeping and that someone might have been his wife, Minnie Wright. Although John and Minnie Wright are absent characters, we see through the eyes of two of Minnie Wright's neighbors, Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters, what actually took place in the Wright house, and why. Susan Glaspell’s one-act play Trifles is loosely based on true events. As a young reporter, Glaspell covered a murder case in a small town in Iowa. Years later, she crafted a short play inspired by her experiences and observations. Mrs. Hale is played by Vera Bennett; Mrs. Peters is played by Lisa Jayne, George Henderson, the county attorney, is played by Alex Brown; Henry Peters, the sheriff, is played by Mike Solomonson; and Lewis Hale is played by Randy Rice.
